An invite to see Threshold, a new capstone project by Reinhart and friends!

Update 16 October 2026: Added product video, relevant time zones for Indian and Indonesian online guests, and confirming the on-site expo location at The Alan Finkel Building.
Hello, World!
Threshold is a mobile application project I have been working with other students from the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT), Monash University as part of FIT5120 Industry experience studio project (postgraduate) final/capstone project for Semester 2, 2026.
And on Tuesday, 20 October 2026 we'll be participating in the FIT5120 expo, online and even right on the campus!
To me, this is the final capstone project in my Master of Cybersecurity course. But others in our team are attempting this project to finalise their Master of Artificial Intelligence, Master of Data Science, and Master of Information Technology courses.
So as a result, we combined our knowledge and experience from different information technology fields into this mobile application. To spill some tech-related secrets on this project,
- We applied a CPU-optimised machine learning model hosted as a custom Docker container.
- This is our very first ever mobile application project built with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).
- As a comparison, my Bachelor/Honors research thesis project (ASEAN Entrepreneurship Profiling / AEP Mobile) was built in Flutter.
- I internally helped other members to establish strong cybersecurity development practices (as in Governance, Risk, and Compliance / GRC discipline), and performed penetration testing with mobile application decompilers.
- And because we're serious on building apps for iPhone, I finally bought a new Mac!
- So after graduation, I'll be working with 4 modern laptops in my home, all at once!
As a mobile app, Threshold is primarily meant for families, caretakers, and organisational workers who wants to improve their homes and living places to be more friendly and stress-free for family members or people with cognitive concerns like dementia.
But sometimes, Threshold it's not just for "sick people". It's also for Reinhart who don't want to spend too much time decluttering his room—that could otherwise be spent for other critical things including getting a higher grade for this Industry Experience project!

So here's everything you need to know to see what we're building to clean that goddamn Reinhart bedroom make clean and clear spaces for everyone!

Frequently Asked Questions
Are you planning to have a Bahasa Indonesia presentation session on this Expo?
We are looking forward to see if our audience is interested to learn more about our project in Bahasa Indonesia. However, the mobile app itself is only currently available in English.
Are you planning to sell this app?
Our Industry Experience project could be later sponsored by organisations (for example, government agencies) to support our project mission based on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). However, as part of project assessment policies, we are not allowed to include monetisation features on our project during this Semester, and access to our product should remain free for everyone.
To learn more about the Postgraduate Industry Experience Program at the Faculty of Information Technology, visit https://pgie.infotech.monash.edu.au.
If you are interested to sponsor a project presented from the FIT5120 course unit, contact the Chief Examiner of this unit at https://handbook.monash.edu/2026/units/FIT5120.
Why should I download this mobile app from mobile application store's pre-release testing feature?
Distributing the app using the pre-release testing features (Play App Testing for Android, TestFlight for iPhone) allows us to ensure our App Store Connect and Google Play Console developer accounts meet their respective good standing policies to be eligible to publish new mobile applications.
For example, Google Play now requires that new apps must be tested "with a minimum of 12 testers who have been opted in [to Closed Testing in Play Console] continuously for at least 14 days". For more information on this new policy, visit https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/14151465.
