Explaining the insider joke of “from coles import trucks…”

from coles import trucks is an internal joke originated from a course unit discussion in Monash University where at FIT9136 - Introduction to Python programming, we had this “meme review breaks” intended by the teaching team during the weekly class sessions.

A snapshot of the class forum with the meme written in Python programming language accompanied with a photographic description: from coles import trucks; define function the monash merchant; trucks dot request 1 dot dump.

It refers to a common phenomenon that trucks with Coles Supermarkets livery often reside around the University-run grocer within the Clayton campus, The Monash Merchant. And sometimes, trucks also come in with the IGA livery instead.

Another truck seen on the other day, wearing the IGA local grocer livery instead.

If you’re lucky enough, you’ll gonna see real Coles trucks entering from the southern logistics tunnel, just close to the David Derham Law Building. The tunnel is known to supply goods to the Campus Centre (formerly Union Building) where a smaller grocer store format, Monash Mini Merchant, is there.

Or finally, a Woolies truck on the scene.
