Important information on upcoming AOG service hiatus on October-November 2026.

At the end of August 2026, I announced some important changes to my working schedule, including my personal deed to continue serving the AOG and CG communities to the fullest extent possible. However, as new, incoming final semester assignment scores for my teams do not match my expectations, I reconsidered to temporarily stop from coming to AOG services in the upcoming weeks.

Why? Because these mid-semester grades are again, do not meet me and my family’s high expectations, at least Distinction, not Credit. Remember that some of these scores relate to my final Capstone Project that will also determine my graduation and the final GPA:

  • FIT5120 Onboarding: 61.80
  • FIT5120 Proposal: 71.80
  • FIT5120 Iteration 1: 65.90
  • FIT5122 Week 7 Presentation: 68.34

The price that was paid so far.

First and foremost, I don’t want to stress about the financial costs. A$50 per week (excluding offerings and tithes) still fits within my budget.

But there’s this cost of time that I had to pay each Saturday. Back when in Jakarta, I could spend 4-5 hours alone for aa single AOG service. But in Melbourne and living around Clayton, I have to dedicate a whole block of 10-11 hours for a single service, including:

  • 1 hour to prepare to go, take a bath, clean my bedroom, etc.
  • 2 x 2 hours for going to and from CBD
  • 2 hours of actual AOG service
  • 2 hours for fellowship after that (including waiting for other members to complete their post-service volunteer evaluation)
  • 2 additional hours of sleep

Now compare this, AOGers living around the Melbourne CBD can simply take a train from Flinders Street Station at 18:06 for the 18:30 AOG service. However, I instead have to start walking from home by 16:45, and have to take the train at most by 17:19, or else I’ll be late for service.

Meantime, I often start to ride back from the CBD fellowship at 22:30-23:00, and that’s why I was finally able to sleep at 01:00-04:00 the next day. Even just after yesterday’s CG session, I was unable to sleep until 05:00, wake up at 12:00, and just 4 hours left to do things before coming to AOG at the CBD again.

To me, 11 hours of Sabbath won’t be much of a problem as long as my other works have worked well, and after all, Sabbath came after all 6 days were deemed good enough.

But in this situation, it’s increasingly imminent for me to reallocate the same 11 hours spent each week to work and improve my final (group) assignments. Anyways, it's just 4 more weeks to end the teaching period, followed by 3 weeks of exams, and then it’s time to prepare for graduation and returning back for good.

Please also be advised that I will continue to come to the weekly CG sessions, and not refraining from joining the fellowship session afterwards. This announcement does not affect my existing ministry schedules, and these new policies will be reevaluated each week.

Thank you for your understanding and support throghout these important times.
